I laughed. grin grin grin
You must be joking.
Ibadan need it than most cities in nigeria.
In fact, every state capital need it. It reduce gas emission.
I have lived in a small country that cannot be more than one quarter of ibadan´s population, and they have all kinds of transportation system.

The objective is not to reduce gas emissions. Its to reduce time spent in traffic and improve productivity which enhances GDP. And it only makes sense when it is financially viable. Oyo state is a relatively poor state. I was in Ibadan just this last weekend. From Challenge to UI didn't take me 30mins. Ibadan does not have much traffic. Especially now that high petrol price has severely limited cars on the roads.

And what city is that. Ibadan is just about 2.5mln people. I'd like to know the city of 600k that has a train system. I am not talking of tram or street car in just the city center o! I mean a proper train system like what Lagos has.

A lot of American cities of more than Ibadans population don't have subway or any form of train mass transportation at all.

Neither does any city in West Africa if Im not mistaken. And that is capitals of countries like Accra and Abidjan that harbor more wealth and you are talking Ibadan that has almost no industry. If you aren't working in UCH , UI or Civil service in Ibadan (and maybe some of the few banks) you have no sensible job in Ibadan.

This is Ibadan traffic at 12pm on a Monday! green everywhere. Why would I then spend N200bln on train. I'd rather spend N10bln on CNG buses.

Its about getting value for money, based on our own economic and social realities, not wanting to be like London for the sake of it.
