The Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria has declared that its members are yet to feel the impact of palliatives being distributed by government to cushion the effects of subsidy removal in many of the states across the country.

National Vice President of the organisation, Alhaji Abdul Waheed Ajao, made this declaration while speaking at a press conference to herald the organisation’s centenary celebration in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Wednesday.

DAILY POST recalls that the Federal Government had released funds to the states for provision of palliatives to vulnerable Nigerians.

Ajao, who addressed journalists alongside Oyo State Chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Oladejo, State Secretary, Alhaji Teslim Adediran and Missioner Dr. Bashir Eleshimeta, urged state governors to monitor the distribution of the palliatives so that it can reach the targeted people.

He said, “The people in government are telling us to be patient. We have not seen the impact of palliatives in many states.

“On the situation of the country, any time we have the audience with the people in government, we always tell them. It is one of those things that my President will discus with the governor.

“The Federal Government is releasing a lot of money after the removal of subsidy, you can see that the allocation they give to states has increased. I am not comfortable too.

“We want to charge the governors to look into the distribution of the palliatives. The governors should ensure that the committee for the distribution of the palliatives do it on time for the people to see the impact.

“The government must keep faith with the agreement they have with the labour unions to avoid another strike and closure of our tertiary institutions.”

He noted that the Society was established by 42 young Muslims in Lagos on December 21, 1923.

“Today, it has spread its tentacles to all nooks and crannies of this country,” he added.

GEJ sincerely removed subsidy with good plans but APC was against. Had it been it was allowed to see the light of day that time we wouldn’t be suffering this much. For now enjoy the one cup of rice they have shared
