To the younger ones here, just to give you a bit of history. The Great country of Nigeria had a female Newscaster long before Her mama (Britain) allowed women to appear on TV.
u lie. 1st British female newscaster was in 1955 while WNTV was established in 1959 (doesn't even mean that she started reading news in same 1959)

Golden Oldies is wishing Nigeria's pioneer newsreader Anike Agbaje-Williams a happy birthday today (Born: 23 October 1936, née Kuforiji).

She was the first female television staff announcer and broadcaster in Nigeria and Africa's first woman broadcaster.

Agbaje-Williams was a pioneer staff of WNTV, which was first television station in Nigeria.

she was also the first female broadcaster of the station. She rose to become a producer and director of programmes at the television station before retiring in 1986.
