Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has flagged off five days vaccination campaign against human papilloma virus in the state, targeting three hundred and Eighty Eight thousand, one hundred and Eighty female population.

The vaccination campaign which targets girls nine to fourteen years of age kickstarted at the primary healthcare centre Luggere.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in a remark enumerated the feats achieved by his administration in the health sector to Include building new and renovating existing primary and secondary healthcare facilities to improve access to quality and affordable healthcare services and the recruitment of thousands of health workers to provide professional care and services.

Represented by his deputy professor Kaletapwa Farauta, he said his administration has also procured and distributed needed equipment, consumables, drugs and supplies to the facilities, urging parents and caregivers to utilize the facilities and investment in the health sector aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of the citizens.

While assuring that the human papilloma virus vaccine is a safe and effective strategy for the prevention of cervical cancer, governor Fintiri vowed to continue allocating needed resources for quality healthcare delivery and other social services.

The governor further stressed that the vaccination is meant to offer the targeted beneficiaries needed protection and immunity against the virus, commending the implementing partners, religious and traditional institutions for being the critical factor of the successes recorded.

The commissioner of health and human services Felix Tangwami and the state chairman primary healthcare development agency Dr. Suleiman Saidu Bashir commended governor Fintiri for his pragmatic approach to health services, advising parents and community leaders to ensure proper mobilization for the success of the exercise.

The development partners in their separate goodwill messages testified that Adamawa is always ahead in terms of commitment and political will to improve the health status of its citizens, especially through timely release of counterpart funds.

They pledged their unwavering support, expressing hope that Adamawa will achieve the targeted coverage of the vaccination against the dreaded human papilloma virus.
