Nigeria has been ranked first among a list of countries with the most daily time spent on social media across the world.

The ranking was conducted by a ranking platform, World of Statistics, which placed Nigeria above with an average of 4 hours, 20 minutes time spent on social media per day.

At the second and third positions are Brazil and South Africa with an average of 3 hours, 44 minutes, and 3 hours, 44 minutes respectively.

The 29 countries list ranking had Japan at the bottom with just an average of 49 minutes on social media daily.

Here is the full list of the ranking, which was made available on the World of Statistics official X account on Wednesday.

Productive countries like US, Japan and China use social media more than many of the countries ranked up there.

I do not really what statistical factors and parameters used as the determinants for this ranking.

Internet usage is one thing and social media usage is another thing entirely.
We are talking about social media here.

An average American would rather send you a direct text message directly to your phone than use social media to communicate.

What are the social media used by large percentage of Nigerians outside meta products, nairaland, twitter and lately TikTok.

Go and check the social media posts of many US celebrities to see the views and comments within few minutes of posting and compared to the ones in Nigeria and other countries ranked up there.

Seems there are a lot of jobless people or folks with plenty of time on their hands. Developed countries spend less time on social media (no time for it), and that's why they are so productive.
