I concure.

According to Ndume, the level of unexplained wealth in the country especially among politicians and civil servants requires some laws to combat.

BAT should demonstrate his political will again in this regard, as he did boldly on the monsterous fuel subsidy regime, bringing it to a forever ending.
The president need to be courageous, and do things not only to the favour of the sycophants that sorrounded him, but to the benefit of Nigerians.

You expect people who got wealthy through unexplainable means to sign the law for you. How many wealthy Nigerians cleanly got their wealth? Maybe just about one percent. Others came through looting, political patronage and outright criminality. In Nigeria we celebrate wealth without source that is why criminality abounds everywhere and people now resort to killing their fellow men for rituals.

The TAXMAN would certainly make a hell of a lot of money for Nigeria…..then the government can introduce programs like Free Education, Free National Health Service, etc. Brilliant idea from Senator Ndume….let’s get it underway.
The Japa syndrome would take a turn for the worse though….but the few that choose to remain would enjoy Eldorado! grin grin

So should things be allowed to continue like that?
In the Developed countries, you must be able to explain the Source of every kobo you call your own and be prepared to pay taxes on it.
Even your inheritors would still have to pay as much as 40% Tax as Inheritance Tax on whatever is left after you die.
Definitely, things have to change if we want accountability in the system! cool cool

This is Nigeria. It is an exception to the rule. What works in other places never works here. People with vested interest will always frustrate it. The same people that would make the rules will still be the ones to break it and there is nothing anyone can do because Nigerians are too docile to take back their country.

Each of us has a role to play in viciously combating corruption. This is a very constructive and credible interview.

The only part of the link he left out is getting the judiciary on board as well to avoid the use of technicalities in court to frustrate the law or executive order against unexplained wealth.

The first task in our own court right now is to demand for a strong and effective law against unexplained wealth. He is right that such law exists in other countries and I know of the UK for example. The President can issue executive order that temporarily place a lien on assets possessed by civil servants, politicians, citizens and foreigners domiciled or doing business in Nigeria who have unexplained wealth.

While the executive order is running, the National Assembly should get to work and organize a public workshop to collate the input from the judiciary, executive and members of the public. The various inputs should be used to make a robust and effective law against unexplained wealth and empower the DSS, NDLEA, NAFDAC, EFCC, ICPC, CBN ,Police and FIRS with prosecutorial rights to confiscate and jail those with unexplained wealth.

This will act as a strong deterrent against unexplained wealth across the broad spectrum including those who stumble upon sudden wealth through illicit drug deals, internet fraud , ritual yahoo plus etc. Not only the corrupt civil servants and politicians, some of those non civil servants and politicians commit far grievous crimes like those ones that hacked N8 billion of depositors money in the trust of Access bank recently. Banks too, constructionor oulcompanies etc if indeed we want a change

What a defeatist attitude to adopt to life. The Slave Trade that lasted over 400 years was abolished in principle when enough pressure was mounted on those who benefited from the practice…..it was the same people that eventually abolished it. Never say never! cool cool

Only a child from a bad, terrible, horrible and dysfunctional family will wake up first thing Monday morning to insult , cyberbully another person and even insult a person who is his father and grandparents age mate. Only unhappy and unfortunate people do that.

The word of God that says honour thy father and thy mother is for everyone old enough to be your father and mother so when you despise such people and disrespect them, the word of God, not mine, is that it shall never be well with you.

This is why they say charity begins at home. It is not well with you because you were badly raised. I will remind you of what Mr Bayo Onanuga tweeted and the verdict of Bishop Oyedepo for youths like you who curse your parents and your parents/grandparents mates on the social media. You're forever doomed with calamity was Bishop Oyedepo 's verdict from the word of God.

You are unwise and naive if you think that , by divine and natural law, every filthy word you type will not further hurt your already crooked destiny. You need not look elsewhere for why bad luck, rejection, failed relationships, perpetial near success syndrome, stagnation in life, failed dreams, unfruitfulness and horrible things happen to you, your family and anyone who tries to help you. .

You know it's funny how you are able to reference the Word of God, yet you spend hours daily on this forum defending injustice because it favours your tribe.
My dear, God is a God of justice. The seed of injustice you guys have sown and are aggressively sowing in Nigeria now shall yield a massive harvest in your life time.

Why the outburst?

They are asking valid questions and making factual comments and instead of answering, you resort to cursing them.

If supporting an alleged corrupt druggie is OK by you; note that, it is not OK by everyone.

What even baffles me is your ability and audacity to quote the bible while supporting a person of shady character.

Wonders shall never end.
