Israel's Name Disappears From Online Maps In China: Report by PrincessDiana: 8:36pm On Oct 31, 2023
Synopsis

The name 'Israel' is reportedly missing from online digital maps provided by companies like Baidu and Alibaba in China. This observation has been made by Chinese internet users, particularly since the conflict between Israel and Hamas in early October. While the maps demarcate Israel's internationally recognized borders, they do not clearly label the country by name.

Users in China have noticed that the name 'Israel' does not appear on online digital maps provided by the likes of Baidu and Alibaba, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Chinese internet users have pointed to this development since the war between Israel and Hamas broke out in early October. The report says that while Baidu's Chinese language online maps demarcate the internationally recognised borders of Israel, they don't clearly identify the country by name. It is not yet clear when the omission exactly came about.

Israel initiated a conflict with the Palestinian militant group Hamas following a series of unprecedented attacks within Israel on October 7, resulting in the death of more than 1,400 individuals, primarily civilians, and the hostage-taking of over 230 people. In response, Israel launched a significant aerial bombing campaign in Gaza, which is under the control of Hamas. Simultaneously, a long-anticipated ground war began within the territory.

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi on October 8 condemned Israel's actions for going "beyond the scope of self-defence" and called for it to "cease its collective punishment of the people of Gaza".

Two can play the game.
Since Benjamin Netanyahu can draw his own map of the middle east. Let all of us be drawing our own map.

Even Saudi Arabia has redrawn the middle east map to exclude "israel".
