One US official said that Washington has not yet confirmed sending the defense system, but is monitoring discussions involving Wagner and Hezbollah and that the potential delivery is a major concern. The United States deployed an aircraft carrier in the eastern Mediterranean to try to deter Hezbollah from opening a northern front against Israel. Wagner has employees in Syria, where Hezbollah fighters are also present.

Finally, Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, said, "Israel has no right to self-defense in the current conflict because it is an occupying state."
