Rwanda and Kazakhstan have just granted Nigerians visa-free access. Congratulations to the government and citizens of my dearly beloved country.

But please, let us use and not abuse these opportunities, like we did when Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Seychelles, offered us this same privilege, and had to revoke it. The United Arab Emirates is only now reconsidering Nigeria.

Nigerians, especially Southern Nigerians, should understand that no matter how clever we think we are, if we try to take advantage of this visa-free access to do what got us delisted from Ethiopia, Tanzania, Seychelles and The United Arab Emirates, they will know. They have entry and exit data, which they cross reference with internal arrest records, and once any country crosses a threshold of criminality, their systems will pick it up.

In the Seychelles, Nigerians, especially Southern Nigerians, and especially one particular region, left a very bitter taste in their mouths. There are almost more Nigerians in some of their detention facilities than their own citizens. Similar is true for India, where more than 70% of Nigerians arrested in India and Bangladesh this year come from one geopolitical zone, name withheld. Sadly, truth always looks like hate to those who hate truth. But in case you think this is hate, please carry out your own independent investigation.

Let us put our God-given intelligence to good use and go to these countries to display good ambassadorial qualities so we can all enjoy this favour and project positive things about our country to these nations.
