Leave muslim aside, imagine you as a young man, your only job is to roam about with cows from one place to another sleeping in bushes for maybe 10k a month, and suddenly someone comes with an ak47 for you promising to pay 100k monthly if you join his gang, the probability of you saying to that is less than 20%.
It has little to do with who is a muslim or not, the almajiri system breeds poverty, poverty breeds social vices in turn, thats the human nature. Its a problem that would get worse in time if the root cause is not addressed.
