Should You Go For Secondary Housing Or Opt For A New Build? by oksano4ka: 10:58am On Nov 07, 2023
I'm in the same boat, and let's face it, both choices have their charm and challenges.

Secondary housing, with its lived-in feel and established neighbourhoods, often packs in more character. Think of those Victorian terraces in Peckham or the charming mid-century homes in Dulwich. They offer a slice of history, mature gardens, and settled communities. But then, I ponder about the maintenance costs and energy efficiency. Are these older homes going to burn a hole in my pocket with their upkeep and potentially higher energy bills?

On the flip side, new builds in areas like Greenwich Peninsula are tempting. Modern amenities, energy efficiency, and often a blank canvas to start with – they're like the modern Londoner's dream. But then I wonder, do they lack the personality and space of older properties? And there's the price. New builds in South-East London aren't cheap, and I'm left questioning if they're worth the premium https://1newhomes.com/new-homes/south-east-london-area/.

Have you recently faced this decision in South-East London? Which did you choose and why? If you went for a secondary home, has the charm outweighed the maintenance concerns? And for those who chose a new build, has the modern living experience lived up to the hype and cost?

I'm all ears for your stories, insights, and maybe even some warnings. Your experiences could be the guiding light for many of us making this big decision. So, what's it going to be – the character and history of secondary housing or the sleek, modern promise of a new build in South-East London?
