How Karo Goru Adopted Twin Brothers For Full-Scale Scholarship To University Level.

Over the last five months of Hon. Jonathan Karo Goru's tenure as the DESOPADEC Commissioner representing Udu, Ughelli South, Uvwie and Urhobos of Warri South on the Board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), he has been doing everything humanly possible to ensure that the people of his mandate area, being his primary constituents, enjoyed the dividends of democracy viz: (1)The promotion of peace and harmony through peace parley among various Community leaders, (2) Appointment of 68 persons as DESOPADEC Liaison Officers, (3) Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship training, (4) Provision of Health Care support, (5) Educational support, (6) Clearing/Opening of Canals, (7) Activation of Road Construction Projects and ( Street Light Projects.

Our focus today centers on the touching story of how he voluntarily adopted to sponsor twin brothers on Scholarship through their Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary education.

It all began in August this year at an event organized by the Ataifo Family of Egini Town in Udu LGA to felicitate with the trio of Senator Emmanuel Aghwariavwodo; Chief Taleb Tebite and Hon. Jonathan O. Goru over their recent appointment by the current administration of the Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

The 10 year old Twin brothers happened to be members of the Udje-Udu Cultural Dance group of Ujevwu that entertained the Dignitaries at the event.

The highpoint of the occasion then, was the award of a full-scale scholarship to University level to Master Goddowell Ugborhikefe who was singled out by the Commissioner.

According to the Commissioner, he was captivated by the vigour and enthusiasm with which the youngster did the fascinating and enthralling dance.

It was at the point of effecting his pledge to the young dancer that the benevolent DESOPADEC Commissioner learnt that the beneficiary had a twin brother, Master Godspower Ugborhikefe, who happens to be a member of the same dance group.

He also discovered that these twin brothers lost their father, Late Mr. Alfred Ugborhikefe of Ujevwu Town in Udu LGA when they were barely 3 years old and that their struggling mother, Mrs. Loveth Ugborhikefe, whom they lived with at Ugbisi Town in Udu LGA has been finding it very difficult to financially see them and their older siblings through school.

In the process, it was also learnt that these 10 year old twin brothers were still in Primary Two(2) at Ugbisi Public Primary School due to the instability which has bedeviled their academic life for years.

The benevolent Hon. Goru, touched by their ordeal, extended the Scholarship award to cover both of them.

According to the benefactor, "It's an opportunity to directly empower and positively touch the lives of the younger generation and ease a burden. This is a personal project to me since it would be spanning a period of two decades."

The Twin brothers have been moved to a far more decent learning environment (private school) since the beginning of this Academic session with all expenses - School Fees, School bags, Textbooks, Note books, Shoes, etc fully paid.
