Devaluation and corruption made your currency weak and poverty skyrocketed. I knew security men who would come to our local kiosk in the 90's to buy a tin of peak for 19 naira, in the 90's you hardly get powdered or sachet milk, it was affordable to all those who had something doing. It was never a luxury item
