During the collation at the election center, SDP’s representative, David Edibu, submitted a plea to the Independent National Electoral Commission. They called for invalidating results in several local government areas, citing claims of corruption, vote buying, and excessive voting. Edibu highlighted that SDP agents were barred from approaching polling stations in these areas.

The state’s returning officer, Prof. Johnson Urame, received the petition on the commission’s behalf, ensuring a review. The Peoples Democratic Party expressed support for SDP’s plea, with their representative, Abubakar Mahmood, underscoring significant irregularities in the mentioned local government areas.

SDP Demands Cancellation Of Kogi Central Election

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has called for the cancelation of elections in Kogi Central Senatorial District.

David Edibo, state agent of the party, made the demand while presenting his party’s petition to the Returning Officer of the election at the collation center in Lokoja, on Sunday.


The agent said his party did not accept the outcome of the election in the five local government areas of the senatorial district.

The agent said the results were doctored and fraught with irregularities and should not be allowed to stand.

He said his party had earlier written to INEC on the issue, wondering why the result was accepted by INEC officials.

However, the Returning Officer for the election, Prof Johnson Urama, said INEC is already working on the petition, adding that the next line of action will be revealed.


Kogi Central is the stronghold of Usman Ododo, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He should start working on the evidence he will summit at the tribunal. If he can package and follow the right steps, a lot of polling units in Kogi central will be cancelled.

very true here. It’s very unfortunate. Nigeria CSO worked tirelessly to proposed a Bill where BVAS machines will be used for proper accreditation and posting of results. It’s very unfortunate, the BIVAS machines have been rubbish. The so called Irev is never useful at all. Very unfortunate

INEC is the problem here. This same issues happened in the presidential/National Assembly poll too. It’s very unfortunate situation in our electoral process.

The contestants have little or nothing to lose but the electorates who rig and kill will suffer it all. NIGERIANS think the rebellion that happened in Egypt, Sudan, Burkina Faso, Mali etc can't happen here. Self help is dangerous, those saying
go to court should know a time will come when people will adopt same measure as their opponents and this will sure lead to anarchy. Every illegitimate leader is a cancer to the society. I pray am far away from Nigeria when the seed we are planting starts germinating.
