Nigeria government does nothing for the masses, yet they want to harden it, by taxation.

I hope at the end of the day, something meaningful will be made use of the money generated, because it looks and seems like he and the ministry will embezzle 80% of the money generated.

Nigerian government does what the masses want- stomach infrastructure in exchange for their votes every four years or so.

Dead on arrival... It's a good tax tho.. Especially for those empty houses in Abuja with no occupants, maybe this will drag down the price of houses in Abuja if people fill those empty houses, because I see no reason why someone should be paying taxes in those big houses like 20 a year with no one staying in it.

Good point

Honestly, I'm more concerned about those thousands of empty houses that no one can afford littered all around the city, my friend and I discussed about this not too long . The way you suggested it is a good move

Approved a draft!
The property tax approval process for the FCT must go thru NASS and then signed into law by Bat.

yeah.. It's true but someone just educated me that it's a "sales" tax which means it's a tax on when the buildings are sold.. I think a kind of tax should be levied on those empty houses anything valued more than 75m and two years empty should be taxed by atleast 1% of the value if you are paying that for an empty house I think you will be desperate to fill it in with an occupant. Just my opinion tho.

Rich men should pay more tax than the poor/ average. Provided it does affect the house rents for the poor/ average.

Dey play..
1st.. Cost of properties will go up cos sellers will infuse the tax into the selling price.. New buyer will fix rent considering how much the property was acquired..

2nd.. The rich are already paying huge tax.. Even some of us wey be middle-class dey cry.. Imagine paying tax of about N10m on ur salary per annum..

It will always trickle down to the poor/average.

The poor masses don't know that bad government practices will affect only them. No rich man in any society has ever paid their fair share of tax. Oga patapata, Jeff Bezos, has never paid one dollar despite years of record profit.

The middle class will find a way to pay peanuts, then, they will bill their tenants well to cover the costs
