In a visit to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp in Ede, Osun State today, Mr. Sunday Robert Aroni, Head of Reforms at NYSC NDHQ Abuja, engaged with the 2023 Batch C Stream 1 Corps Members, delivering commendations and valuable advice. Mr. Aroni commended the Corps Members for their comportment and discipline during the Orientation Course. He acknowledged the symbolic significance of the NYSC uniform as a representation of national unity and integration. Emphasizing the importance of embracing every aspect of the Orientation Course, Aroni highlighted the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC. He underlined their significance in achieving unity and integration among the Corps Members. In a bid to empower the Corps Members, Aroni urged them to pick one skill and embrace the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program. He stressed the importance of acquiring practical skills for personal and national development. Offering practical advice, Mr. Aroni encouraged Corps Members to accept their postings in good faith, emphasizing that posting is free. He cautioned against night travels and urged them to respect the culture and traditions of their host communities. Highlighting the responsibility bestowed upon Corps Members, Aroni reminded them that they are ambassadors of their home state, school, and family. He emphasized the need to protect the reputation of these entities, reinforcing the importance of positive representation. Earlier, Mr. Agbor Udoma Obim, the State Coordinator, expressed gratitude for Mr. Aroni's presence, emphasizing his mentorship. Commending the Corps Members for their agility, humility, and responsibility, Agbor highlighted their excellent participation in various camp activities. Notably, platoon 9 entertained Mr. Aroni with a cultural dance presentation, showcasing the Osun Osogbo festival. Providing insights into the camp's statistics, Mr. Agbor said 1151 are Osun Corps members and 823 were dislodged from Lagos. He praised the camp clinic's standards and highlighted guest visits, including the Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, and the Chairman NYSC State Governing Board, Hon. Olagunju Moshood Olalekan, among others. Mr. Agbor commended the Corps Members for their active participation in camp activities, and their obedience and dedication to maintaining a clean environment. He apprised the Ag. Director of the new hostel which has just been completed stating that the hostel will be commissioned for use. In a gesture of appreciation, Mr. Aroni presented a token to the Corps Members, recognizing their efforts and commitment. The gesture was met with gratitude from the Corps Members themselves. During a meeting with the camp staff, Mr. Aroni stressed the importance of NYSC's continued existence. He urged staff to channel grievances appropriately, discouraging the spread of rumors that could undermine the integrity of the NYSC Scheme. Mr. Sunday Robert Aroni's visit not only provided guidance and motivation but also reinforced the importance of the NYSC in fostering unity, discipline, and skill development among Nigerian youths. 1 Like
