This does not call for celebration, instead it highlights how the govt has inflicted untold hardship on the masses. Notice how all the mentioned income sources are all levies imposed on Nigerian directly or indirectly, yet people will come here to celebrate this as an achievement

“Non-oil revenues are more stable and sustainable sources than oil revenue,” Nigeria’s budget Office said in its newly published 2024-2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper.

This is commendable.

With oil subsidy likely to be completely off by next year, the oil revenues due to FG will go up and the non oil sector revenue may double up as govt improves aggregate output with its brilliant fiscal and monetary reforms. Check my signature for free stuffs!

Non oil revenue is higher cos oil is being stolen. Did you even read properly

False

This report is either false or inaccurate. How do want me to believe that the FG share in electronic money transfer is only 17b while I alone get over 3k deducted from my account monthly on electronic money transfer from my various accounts despite the fact that I am not a big man and so only a handful of transfers monthly

Good one..
But I was expecting our agricultural and manufacturing sector should take the larger share of the income instead of tax and levies.
We'll get there, GOD's willing.

Read again and study the diagram. There was a pattern of growth and this time round, it is profound (talking about the non-oil data) but it's agreeable that the oil revenue index could've been (performed) better if we've been able to meet up with our required BPD output.

All in all, good thing we're diversifying.

if you call this write up a propaganda either you didn't read it before you comment or you don't comprehend English language, this article is far freely propaganda Infact it's the opposite, this is purely dooms day fact of current and future position of Nigeria, I don't think this article is trying to praise the government of the day rather its telling us we are in trouble, more so they should start quoting in $ when they are doing yearly comparative yearly analysis of their economic statistics figure, if the value of naira was 500 last year and this year it's 1k, that means the real value of what they said we made from oil is Infact half of its real value in dollars... May God help us.. We are in real trouble.

That's because Nigeria is now exporting less oil due to oil theft.

The devil is in the details.

We are not producing more non oil exports, we have only reduced our oil exports due to incompetence and failure of govt to tackle oil theft.

That's why the CBN can't get enough dollars.
That's why Nigeria is at N1300 to a dollar.

That's because our highest source of dollar revenue which is oil, has been gutted.

The navy, army are responsible for oil producing less revenue. They are the real oil bandits stealing crude oil out of Nigeria.

Was that not why Tinubu packaged General Buhari as the strongman saviour to rescue the country eight years ago, from clueless bloody civilian Jonathan and his corrupt capitalist PDP?

If it is not propaganda, then why is the dollar rate worsening and the CBN unable to clear its backlog of payments to foreign companies

@seguno2

@me
The dollar rate is worsening because the aggregate fx inflow is still lower than outflow. Effect of the increase of non-oil revenue on dollar rate depends on the mix. If a reasonable part of it is export income then it will affect the exchange rate positively. From the analysis the bulk of it is in naira. The benefit will be less shock on the economy because of volatile international crude oil rate.

The CBN clearing the backlog is dependent on availability of fx. It's a difficult situation. Someone took things on credit enjoyed it and left. Another person comes in and is saddled with the responsibility of paying for the goods already consumed as well as find money to run his current cost.

Our minds have been so tuned to propaganda in this country. Everything is not propaganda. The statistics is from budget office. You can access the information.
