It is a thing of joy for the Catholic Church, particularly the Ahiara Catholic Diocese, when Pope Francis recently, but after 13 years of appeal, appointed Msgr Simeon Okezuo Nwobi as Auxillary Bishop for Ahiara Catholic Diocese. His consecration, the first of its kind to be held in Mbaise (bishop Chikwe’s was in Rome), has been scheduled for December 19th at the Diocese.

This appointment and its historic nature has presented us with a huge challenge, such as organizing a befitting world-class consecration reception, give a face-lift to the Cathedral, refurbish the bishop’s house, provide a vehicle for the bishop and other logistics, all estimated at $100,000.00/or #100 million Naira.

For a successful ceremony, a planning committee, including a diasporan and member of the Ahiara Diocese World-Wide Laity Council (ADWWLC), Dr Jude Iheoma, was appointed by the Apostolic Administrator of Ahiara Diocese, Most Rev. Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji.

It is against this background that we graciously appeal to you as a great patriot, friend or well-wisher, of the Diocese, to assist the Diocese meet her financial goal for organizing a memorable and enviable, historic bishopric consecration ceremony of all times!
