Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, has organized a one-day training programme for staff of its registry department to improve their works ethics and service delivery in the discharge of their official responsibilities.

While declaring the programme held on Monday, November 20, 2023, at the Senate Chamber open, the Registrar of the university, Barr. Titus I. Igwe, charged the staff to imbibe strong work ethics in order to enhance their efficiency in service delivery.

The Registrar commended the staff for their dedication to duty, stating that the theme of the training ‘’Work Ethics and Efficient Service Delivery in the University’’ was apt and timely, and called on them to take advantage of the capacity building programme to improve their attitude and skills, as well as to learn more on the job.

While speaking on the theme of the training ‘’Work Ethics and Efficient Service Delivery in the University’’, the Guest speaker, Prof Chukwunonso E.C.C. Ejike stated that every organization has its norms, values and acceptable ways of behaviors, adding that these ethics which includes; reliability, initiative and social skills amongst others, if adhered to, would ensure smooth running of the organization. He admitted that the ability to provide effective service delivery in line with stipulated job specifications is crucial to career and organizational success.

Prof. Ejike, reiterated that the attainment of effective service delivery in the university entails, staff being punctual to work and giving advanced notice for absenteeism, display of good character, having the spirit of team work, maintaining a healthy appearance as well as demonstrating a positive attitude, adding that attitude determines altitude.



He highlighted some major complaints against administrators which include; delay in giving attention/poor handling of sensitive documents, poor communication, tips and other gratification as well as poor training and often incompetence amongst others.

Concluding, Prof. Ejike stressed that as a university, students come with the intention of acquiring knowledge and having their character formed, stressing that it behooves on the administrators to provide critical services to staff and students, adding that the higher the satisfaction students get with the services provided by administrators, the more AEFUNAI achieves its objectives.

He therefore urged the staff to pay attention to details and exhibit a positive outlook as well as ensure sincerity in their day-to-day activities in the University for efficient service delivery, while also advising them not to compare themselves with others, and never to forget that the lawn is often not greener on the neighbor’s lawn.

Recall that the 1st in-house training of the staff of the Registry department was held on Friday, July 28, 2023 at the Needs Assessment Building with the theme; “Misconduct/Discipline”, delivered by Prof. Dr. Jonny Ogunji where he admonished staff to discharge their official responsibilities in line with the extant rules and regulations guiding the university in order to avoid disciplinary actions and sanctions.
