Upon meeting Collins Ogbuji, Joseph Umezugha asked him to invest in his hotel as he needed funds to complete same.

As stated by FC Joseph Umezugha himself and as contained in the Patnership Agreement, the cost of the land and what he had spent so far on the construction of the hotel was a total sum of N110 million.

He therefore asked Collins Ogbuji to invest same equal amount of N110 million to complete the construction and furnishing of the hotel in order to make him an equal partner in the hotel business.
However and as typical of Joseph Umezugha, he continued to demand for more money, contrary to the mutual agreement between them of N110 million, until Collins Ogbuji paid the total sum of N185 million. Still, he demented for more, but Collins Ogbuji insisted on Joseph Umezugha giving proper accounts of the money already collected and showing the items procured before he could pay any other money.

Joseph Umezugha bluntly refused to give any accounts and promised to deal with Collins Ogbuji for having the audacity to challenge his authority over his own property.
