"Reports during the week quoted the Chairman of the Health Committee of the House of Representatives, Amos Magaji, claiming five wards had been shut at the tertiary health facility with about 150 beds affected."

But in an exclusive interview with PREMIUM TIMES, Mr Adeyemo, a professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, said the comment was taken out of context.

He noted that some of the reported closed wards had also been merged with the existing wards “owing largely to ongoing renovations and not strictly for ‘japa’ reasons.”

This is no brainer to get but those naysayers, unpatriotic elements, criminal defamers,
cyberbullies perpetually glossing over bad news will not understand.

LUTH, just like the University of Lagos (UNILAG) , will always be on the first row seat of high priority, strategic and prestigious Federal tertiary institutions of excellence. In fact, the day LUTH starts closing wards then there's no single hope for other teaching hospitals in Nigeria and Africa niyen.

your Chairman House Committee on Health was the one that made the allegation. And the LUTH MD didn't even deny it. Only gave excuses for merging of wards.

Most govt. hospital are experiencing shortage of medical personnel due to Japa, most of them fill in with interns now and there's reduction in the number of patients due to cost of registration for new patients and the stress involved getting the needed care.

People have refused to fall sick, it's expensive treating health issues now.

Your stupidity on this forum is getting out of hand. Your eagerness to cover up/defend certain things about this already failing administration is ridiculous.

He said the closure is not strictly for japa reasons meaning that japa is a part of it. Its public news that a lot of doctors and health practitioners are leaving the country. Its nationwide.

So stop being an arse licker, stop being stupid defending and justifying nonsense unnecessarily. Sometimes i wonder if you are normal. Spits

....Infrastructural upgrade in LUTH

According to the CMD, the federal government recently approved money for infrastructural renewal and renovation of the wards. The retrofitting, according to him, requires moving and merging wards with others.

“After we renovated, moving back became a problem. So, we didn’t shut down. To go back, we realised we didn’t have enough nurses to handle them,” he said.

“During an engagement with the House Committee, we highlighted our challenges and their presentation of the issue was well understood. I just want to put perspectives into this matter.”......

He didn't deny the earlier report, the CMD is only trying to save face. shortage of nurses or Doctors...

The CMD and REP guy that said 150 wards were shut said same thing

APC in Lagos would have sent the CMD to lie to the press to save face

The situation in LUTH is bad, many at times the wards are crowded and nurses are overworked. Many wards areas served only by a few house officers now when that should not happen. This information from a friend that used to work there.

What kind of gas plant is operated on cost of N100 Million a monthly....either that CMD is crooked or he said that in error.

They closed 5 wards and 200 beds for retrofitting - to go back became a problem because they did not have enough nurses and doctors due to japa

The only reason the wards remain closed is japa

But you can choose to write what you believe

Hats off to Mr Adeyemo for having himself referred to as a "Mr". That's how surgeons should refer to themselves in medical practice. Not all these title of "Dr" up and dan for a Surgeon.
