FG Only Sponsored 422 People To COP28, Says Information Minister by Kenisionman(m): 10:07pm On Dec 04, 2023
Mohammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation, says only 422 people out of the record 1,411-member delegation from Nigeria were sponsored by the federal government to attend the ongoing climate change conference in Dubai. United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Nigeria leads Africa’s largest delegation to the conference also known as Conference of Parties (COP28).

The long list of delegates from Nigeria has sparked criticisms from citizens, with many calling it a jamboree to the Middle Eastern country.

In a statement on Monday, Idris said some of the people were sponsored by state governments and private entities.

It is imperative to point out that the overall Nigerian delegation to COP-28 comprises Government-sponsored (Federal and State Governments) and non-government-sponsored participants (from Private Companies, NGOs, CSOs, Media, academia, etc),” Idris said.

“The Federal Government-funded delegation is made up of a total of 422 persons, as follows: National Council on Climate Change = 32, Federal Ministry of Environment = 34, All Ministries = 167, Presidency = 67, Office of the Vice President = 9, National Assembly = 40, Federal Parastatals/Agencies = 73.

Mugus.

Jet fuel (both financial and emission costs for idiots meeting for a climate change conference oh).

Accommodation cost.

Estacodes.

Estimate the above costs and multiply by this under-declared number to get an idea of how these folks are clueless in all spheres of economic management plus governance.

I saw a video on TikTok where Tinubu was supposedly speaking at one of the panels and I just realized the government might just have paid for nairaland for the next 8 years to sensor what gets on here.

Tinubu keeps making Buhari seem like a genius and an Oxford graduate. The panel participants that included John Terry and the UAE leader were all looking at him blabbing incoherently and obviously fighting to understand what language Tinubu was speaking.

I got so embarrassed on his behalf to watch the show of shame to the end.

If in doubt, go on TikTok and look for the video of Tinubu's speech at the conference. You'd all understand that the next 4 years will be longer than Buhari's 8 years.

What a shame.
