Fubara Vs Assembly: Case Adjourned As ‘speakers’ Clash In Court by Thonyb2: 4:20pm On Dec 05, 2023 |
The Rivers State High Court has fixed 20th December, 2023, to hear a suit filed by Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, against the House of Assembly, Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Clerk and Chief Judge of the state. .ng reports that the presiding Judge, Justice Ben Whyte, adjourned the case following the controversy over the representation of the Speaker. Two counsels appeared for two ‘Speakers’, Martins Amaewhule and Edison Ehie, who are leading different factions of the Assembly. The counsels also informed the court that they are appearing for two different sets of clerks, a situation which created a rowdy session in the court. One of the lawyers from Ehie’s camp, who did not want to be named, explained that due to the conflicting legal representation, the judge advised them to sort themselves out and return to court with the rightful person to represent the defendants. .ng recalls that Fubara had approached the Rivers State High Court to stop the Rivers State House of Assembly from proceeding with the impeachment process against him, pending the hearing and determination of the suit. https://.ng/2023/12/05/fubara-vs-assembly-case-adjourned-as-speakers-clash-in-court/

This is something abnormal about our laws How can a gov or president who can't be sued be allowed to sue? With the immunity they enjoy, they should also lose the right to sue |
