The allegation by the Bayelsa State APC's publicity secretary that the state governor, Senator Douye Diri, is planning to use the EFCC against Chief Timipre Sylva is a serious matter that should not be dismissed lightly.

This act of desperation raises serious questions about the motives and intentions of the governor.

This situation must be closely monitored and investigated to ensure that Chief Sylva is protected by the APC government at the center.

The incumbent governor's desperation is clear for all to see.

During the recent gubernatorial election, he relied on underhanded tactics such as using the military and thugs to intimidate voters, bribing electoral officials, and using all the arsenal at his disposal to manipulate the results to his favor.

These actions are an affront to democracy and the will of the good people of Bayelsa State who came out to vote on that day.

We must not continue to allow such flagrant disregard for the rule of law and fair elections to stand.

The governor's attempt to use the EFCC against Chief Sylva is a clear sign of his desperation. Not only is he worried about the outcome of the legal challenge to his temporary election victory, but he also appears to be aware that justice will ultimately prevail against him for squandering the resources of the state mercilessly in the past 4 years.

The hard truth is that the incumbent governor has a lot to answer for when it comes to the mismanagement of public funds for the period he has been in office.

The people of Bayelsa deserve transparency and accountability from their elected officials, and it's clear that this has not been the case throughout Governor Diri's period in office.

His refusal to present clear accountability for the money he has received so far as a governor is an affront to the public trust and a betrayal of the people he is supposed to serve.

The incumbent governor is scared of the consequences of leaving office without covering the stench from the sewage of corruption in his office.

Without the protection of his position, he knows he will be held accountable for his actions and face justice. This fear is driving his desperate attempts to cling to power, even if it means trampling on the rights of the people he is supposed to serve. It's time for him to step down and face the music because we believe in justice and the rule of law.

This latest move is just another example of his willingness to abuse his power to cling to office at all costs.

It's time for him to step down and allow the people to choose a leader who will represent their interests with integrity and honesty.
