The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation yesterday flagged off the distribution of N20,000 grants to vulnerable groups in Kogi State.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu, while flagging off the distribution of grants to the beneficiaries, explained that the grant for vulnerable groups is not a loan and will not be repaid.

“The President is committed to seeing that he pulls Nigerians out of poverty. He has placed a demand on himself and his team that a minimum of 50 million Nigerians be out of poverty.

“To achieve this, the president set up a team to identify the poorest of our people and came up with a series of programmes that will improve the economy of the common man.

“Today in Kogi State, we are officially flagging off the grant for vulnerable groups in Kogi State. It is a Kickstarter, and it should be used the right way. This is intended to boost your business, and it is expected that it will help in whatever you are doing,” the minister said.

Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello commended President Tinubu for alleviating poverty and eradicating hunger in the country.

Bello described Tinubu as a humanitarian who has the interests of the common man at heart.

You spent 6.9 billion Naira only for cars for your office, including 1.5 billion Naira for cars for your wife's office as if there were no cars for these offices before you came.

And that's how you've been wasting money, including taking 1,400 party faithfuls on a jamboree of profligate spending to UAE. Then, you share 20k to a few people and praise yourselves for fighting poverty.

Well, no need to complain because no amount of complaining can change your wicked hearts. Rather, when Nigerians are truly tired of you, they can unseat your evil government. Otherwise, they'll continue to deserve these very callous 'leaders'.

Hehehe.

The word poor and vulnerable is a scam in Nigeria. What are the measures they use to disburse these money. Mind you the poor and vulnerable don't even have bank accounts in the real sense.

They are about to share money to friends and family in various states. The real poor and vulnerable people will see nothing.

Buhari too bought votes with his poor people list so no surprises Kogi too is towing that path under Tinubu. I am sure Bayelsa and Imo list will soon follow.

This is a sick joke from Tinubu.

Who are the "vulnerable groups"?

What can #20K do for anyone in this insane economy?

Also, I'm pretty sure that money would not even get to anyone.

Fix the economy through the enactment of sound and sustainable economic policy. Not comical, misguided and misdirected welfare schemes that are so weak Tinubu's 71-year old bladder looks like titanium compared to it.

I generally don't subscribe to any policy that involves sharing of Money to citizens.
It's usually laden with corruption & inefficiency and often fails to achieve desired objectives.

Please stop this. This is not how to grow wealth. This is just a temporary solution (and it's not even a solution) for a problem.
