EBONYI STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY PRESS RELEASE

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Bldr Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has submitted to the Hallowed Chamber of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, the 2024 budget estimate of Two Hundred and Two Billion, One Hundred and Twenty Seven Million, Nine Hundred and Eighteen Thousand, Nine Hundred and Seven Naira (#202,127,918,907), for consideration and passage by the Honourable Members of the House in accordance to the Provision of section 121 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.

The budget estimate, which was christened, 'Budget of Innovation and Progress', had 66% of capital project, while 34% was admeasured for recurrent expenditure.

Governor Nwifuru, commended the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa, and Members of Ebonyi State House of Assembly,
for their meticulous consideration of
proposed legislations. He said that their discerning debates and unwavering focus on the needs of the people have served as a guiding light for the executive arm of government, and extolled their commitment to legislative excellence, which has laid a groundwork for the prosperity of the state.

Meanwhile, the rule of the house was stepped down to bestow a standing ovation, to the Governor of the State, Rt Hon. Bldr Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, through a motion that was moved by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Rt Hon. Chinedu Onah, and was seconded by the Member representing Ezza North West Constituency, Hon. Chikaodiri Nomeh.

Earlier, the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon.Moses Ije Odunwa, commended the Governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for his exceptional prudence in the allocation of public fund to areas of importance, adding that the Governor has demonstrated his uncommon skills in governance. He said that the testimonies of the retirees of civil and public service who received their complete pension and gratuities are eloquent testimonies of the humane disposition and readiness of the Governor, to deliver upon the mantra of the people's charter of needs.

"Let me firstly commend you your Excellency for the novelty and intellectual capacity you have brought into governance.
Worthy to mention is your prowess, uncommon and exceptional prudence in the allocation of public fund to areas of importance in the business of Ebonyi Charter of Needs project. With the meagre resource of the of the State, you surmounted all the challenges that bedeviled the nation and our dear State in particular immediately after the removal of fuel subsidy to establish your government. A feat that demonstrates your preparedness, skill in governance and complete reliance in the supremacy of God.
The boundless testimonies of our dear elderly and retirees of civil and public service who received their complete pension and gratuities are eloquent bearer of your humane disposition and readiness to deliver upon the Charter of needs of Ndi-Ebonyi."

Speaker Odunwa, assured the Governor, that the 2024 Appropriation Bill, will receive the needed accelerated endorsement, adding that their reason was enshrined on the conviction that each amount appropriated will be used for the said purpose.

"Your Excellency Sir, As you present the 2024 Appropriation Bill today for adequate actions, be rest assured that it will receive the needed accelerated endorsement.
Our reason is empirically enshrined on the conviction that each kobo and Naira appropriated will be used for the said purpose.
This is because you have bought our trust and conviction within your shortest stay at the saddle through your judicious use of public fund and I'm sure that Ebonyi will surely prosper under your care as Chief Executive of the State."

A motion for the acceptance of the 2024 Budget Estimate, as a working document of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, was moved by the Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Kingsley Ogbonna Ikoro, and was seconded by the Member representing Ohaukwu North State Constituency, Hon. Esther Chidiebere Agwu, and the Chief Whip of the House, Rt Hon. Nkemka Okoro Onuma.

Therefore, he owes his people to work extremely hard to change their fortune. Focus mostly on people empowerment through education, business financing, getting people off the streets and building PPP agro-allied industries across Ebonyi State.
