CSR: Prophet Christson Orovwuje To Feed Over 1000 Children

By Uwgu Samson

Prophet Christson Orovwuje, Senior Pastor Pacesetters Prophetic Interdenominational Ministry Warri, has announced that he would be feeding over 1000 children come January, 2024.

The cleric made the announcement while speaking with newsmen on Monday 11, December 2023, while unveiling the January 2024 ‘God of Suddenly' event in Warri Delta State.

Throughout Christendom, the Church accumulated a social role, besides its fundamental spiritual role, which includes the responsibility for education, healthcare, and charity.

He said, “Christian Social Responsibility (CSR) is a faith-based obligation to meet societal needs through the demonstration of love that positively impacts communities and individuals, stressing that CSR has its roots in Christianity and the Church is meant to be an example for the world to follow according to Matt. 5:16."

He bemoaned the rate of hunger faced by some families, particularly children, saying that starvation is a very serious humanitarian problem in both developing and developed countries that requires everybody's attention.

He quoted, “The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reported in 2012 that an estimate of 870 million people was undernourished mostly in Africa, noting that the World Health Organization estimates the daily adequate food rate at between 2,300 and 2,500 calories, and that the worst is, nearly 6 million children under the age of 5 years die of starvation each year (Oxford Atlas of the World, 104)".

He stated that these statistics show how difficult it is for many people in the world and even in developed countries to put food on their tables. “Therefore we have to be very concerned and try to do what we can to help the less privileged as a Ministry," he maintained.

“Of course, we clearly understand that a government has to create the conditions for feeding its people. However, it's not solely the government's responsibility to assist the hungry. As both citizens and Christians, we have to play our role in helping feed the hungry as Jesus used to do during his ministry in the world," he said.

While urging Warri metropolitans to attend the event, he reminded the public that Christian Social Responsibility is not to seek commendation from men but to show the love of Christ and be a blessing to our community.

IHRC Hails Governor Oborevwori's Strides on Youth Investment

The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has been hailed by the International Human Rights Commission-IHRC, for investing in youth talent development, describing his administration as inclusive as it effectively serves and engages all people, essential to advancing democratic values, including peaceful pluralism and respect for diversity, human rights and equality before the law.

The commendation was made yesterday at Asaba, during a courtesy call visit by the Special Monitoring Mission of the International Human Rights Commission-IHRC in Delta State, led by Fidelis Onakpoma, to the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Talent Development, Ambassador Ugagaoghene Ogheneyole.

He said when it comes to a country's economic growth, investing in youth talent development plays a key role and helps to drive economic development and social progress.

“Young people represent the future of Delta State and are key to driving economic growth and development. By investing in their talent development, the Governor is building a strong talent pipeline that can meet the needs of high-demand sectors, fill the talent gap, and contribute to the country's progress".

He urged the SSA to assimilate Governor Oborevwori's M.O.R.E. Agenda to consistently reflect the dynamism, innovative zeal, and unyielding productivity that are synonymous with the young people of Delta, allowing them to confidently enter the labor market and secure employment and contribute to the economy.
