As part of efforts to improve the health condition of its people, the Kwara State government has invited a team of medical doctors from Apollo Hospitals, India.

The team of medical expatriates, which is being led by Dr Jithu Jose, arrived Ilorin last weekend and had since commenced operations at the Specialist Hospital, Sobi, Ilorin.

The state government is bankrolling the cost of medical treatment of the patients.

The major ailment which people are being treated for is body pain in all its ramifications, including back pain and rheumatism.

When the Nigerian Tribune visited Sobi Specialist Hospital on Tuesday, the patients seeking medical attention were about 150.

The Special Adviser to the State Government on Secondary Health Care, Dr Ibrahim Gambari, confirmed that the three-day progamme was at the instance of the state government.

He said the government used the initiative of inviting the doctors from India in order to provide succour to those patients who had received treatment in India and needed to go back there for routine check up.

Dr Gambari said the programme also offered opportunities for new patients with such ailments.

You'd figure that local docs would cost less. . .
