Razaq Ajala: 152 To Get Free N60.8m-worth Eye-surgery At Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA; Over 2,000 Residents Get Rice, Chicken, Cloth For Xmas


The Chairman of Odiolowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, Honourable Razaq Olusola Ajala has disclosed that his administration will finance eye surgery for 152 residents of the council area.

The Council Boss disclosed this on Friday, 22 December, 2023, while speaking at the distribution of food items, chicken and clothing material to residents of the council area.

Over 2000 residents benefitted from the Christmas packages at the event which took place at the council secretariat in Ilupeju. The event was championed by the Wife of the Chairman, Mrs Kehinde Muheebah Ajala.

The Odiolowo/Ojuwoye Council Boss stated that the 152 residents who will benefit from the free eye-surgery programme were selected after they have gone through the free eye test which formed part the free medical mission put in place by the council.

"Out of the 152 people undergoing the free eye-surgery, 67 of them are our children still in primary schools," he said.

According to him, his administration is spending close to N400,000 on each of the person going through the surgery, which means a total of N60.8 million will be expended on the surgery for the 152 residents.

The distribution of Christmas packages to over 2,000 marked the end of the Yuletide empowerment programmes of various cadres the Ajala administration initiated at the council which spanned two months.

Among the welfare-enhancing programmes executed during the period were:

(1) Free ICT Training Programme for residents in which over 500 residents were trained and graduated. Best performers were empowered with new laptops

(2) Over 1,000 gas cylinders were distributed to residents in a programme tagged trash-for-gas. This involved residents packing their refuse, bagging them and submitting them for evacuation in exchange for gas cylinders.

(3) Interest-free loans were given to small scale entrepreneurs in the council area with some getting over N1 million. This is meant to assist small scale entrepreneurs grow their businesses

(4) Grants were presented to petty traders in the council area

(5) there was inter-school debate and quiz competition among students of secondary schools in the council area

(6) there was also a sports festival which include: Street soccer, boxing competition, Ayo olopon, draught games and table tennis competition

(7) students of tertiary institutions from the council area also benefitted from an improved bursary award

Ajala stated that his administration will continue to put in place programmes that will enhance the welfare of the people of the council area.

"We made promises to you while we were campaigning and we're committed to fulfilling that promises. We will not relent in putting in place programmes that will improve your welfare," he said.

Speaking on the Family Christmas Package for residents, the Wife of the Chairman, Mrs Kehinde Muheebah Ajala stated that her husband administration is committed to putting smiles on faces of residents.

"We know how well you supported my husband and he's not taking your support for granted and he will never take it for granted. This gesture is to say thank you for supporting my husband all the time. I want to urge you not to relent in your support for him," she said.

Over 2,000 residents benefitted from programme with each going home with clothing material, life chicken and rice.

Residents were unanimous in their commendation for the Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA boss describing him as the best that has ever happened to the council.

They were profuse in their praises for the council boss saying he is indeed God-sent for the people of the council area.
