Addressing Recent Incidents in Anambra, Plateau, Zamfara, and Katsina States, Peter Obi Advocates for Our Security Operatives

In a recent Twitter statement, Peter Obi, the former Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has broken his silence on the tragic incident that unfolded in Oba, Anambra State. The incident involved a ruthless attack on a nightclub by unidentified gunmen, resulting in multiple fatalities.

Obi’s decision to comment on the Oba incident was linked to his broader concern for the escalating violence across Nigeria. The former Presidential candidate expressed his condolences and addressed the recent massacre in Plateau State on Christmas Day. He tweeted, “As we celebrate this season of peace and love and the approach of a new year, I like to spare a thought for our compatriots in uniform.”

During a sympathy visit to the Regent of Oba Community, Obi condemned the “horrific killing of people in a nightclub” in the community. Furthermore, he highlighted the “mindless act of terrorism” in Plateau State, where the death toll has reportedly surpassed 100, with over 300 injured.

Obi extended his concerns to include other regions affected by violence, specifically mentioning Zamfara and Kastina States, where farmers were killed, and numerous others were kidnapped. He emphasized that many such incidents might go unreported, underscoring the severity of the security crisis.

The former Presidential candidate directed his attention to the security operatives, acknowledging their sacrifices and the risks they face daily. He expressed gratitude to the gallant troops, policemen, Civil Defense Corps, and Department of State Security operatives who serve on the front lines of insecurity.

In his statement, Obi remarked, “Great nations are built by rulers, citizens, and the protectors of freedom.” He called on the nation to collectively appreciate and acknowledge the efforts of those safeguarding the country’s freedom, especially during the festive season when many are away from their homes.

Obi’s message extended condolences to the families affected by the acts of violence, recognizing the challenging times faced by the nation. He noted that the level of insecurity, violence, and loss of human lives surpassed even some countries in declared wars.

In conclusion, Peter Obi urged continued prayers for the nation’s healing, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to address the pervasive security challenges faced by Nigeria.

Peter Obi Said, “

As we celebrate this season of peace and love and the approach of a new year, I like to spare a thought for our compatriots in uniform. After my sympathy visit to the Regent of Oba Community in Anambra State for the recent horrific killing of people in a nightclub in that

community; plus the mindless act of terrorism that occurred on Christmas Day in Plateau State, where the death toll is now reportedly more than 100 with over 300 injured; with the saddening acts of violence that have occurred in Zamfara and Kastina States, where farmers were killed and several others kidnapped, and the many other violent attacks in many parts of the country, which may go unreported; my thoughts went to our overstretched security operatives. The men and women of our armed and security services come to mind.

They are our gallant troops in various battlefronts of insecurity, the policemen and women on patrol in our cities and highways, the Civil Defense Corps, and Department of State Security operatives. These illustrious citizens are often lost in our thoughts and prayers both as leaders and fellow citizens, yet they remain the guardians and protectors of our freedom as a people. I am also thinking of those who in the call of duty have to spend this festive season away from the comfort of their homes and the embrace of loved ones.

I am referring to those who face the risk of the supreme sacrifice to protect and defend the freedom of our dear nation and the liberties that come with our democracy. Let us spare them our thoughts and prayers this season. Let them be reassured that their labours are appreciated by a grateful nation. Great nations are built by rulers, citizens, and the protectors of freedom. Therefore, to all our illustrious heroes, please accept the prayers and thoughts of your compatriots and the appreciation of a grateful nation for your services and sacrifices. God bless you all for what you do for us all.

And to all the families who have lost their loved ones to these acts of violence, do accept my sincere condolences. These are very challenging times in our nation.
Even some countries in open declared wars have not experienced this level of insecurity, violence, and loss of human lives. Let us continue to pray for our nation that God will heal our land

The gruesome murder of the 112 people in Plateau is the height of barbarity. What exactly is the government waiting to round up those marauding Fulani herders?
I'm sure no arrests or prosecutions will be made, it's going to be business as usual.
Nigeria is truly gone.

The only passionate, competent, politician in Nigeria today.

No one even come close. Every other politician are quiet in the face of such religious ethnic massacre

One useless Cornfessor who uses english to deceive his gullibles has been dead silent & suddenly wants to wait 1 year before saying anything.

Despite the economic disaster, ethnic cleansing, the Cornfessor visited the roasted electricity master to tell him after 1 yr he will be judged.
What a sad & miserable coward life
