Typically, leukemia targets white blood cells, crucial infection fighters that usually proliferate in an orderly manner to meet the body's needs. However, in individuals with leukemia, the bone marrow generates an excess of abnormal white blood cells that fail to function effectively. This disruption in normal cell growth and function characterizes the distinctive challenge posed by leukemia.
