FreeStuffsNG:
The key partners in the consortium include prominent Nigerian tier-1 banks such as First Bank, Access Bank, Sterling Bank, and Providus Bank, payments companies Budpay, Kora (formerly KoraPay), and Interswitch, and Blockchain consultants Convexity and Interstellar. The proposed cNGN stablecoin, similar to existing stablecoins, will facilitate seamless international transfer of NGN.

Nevertheless, there are still many unknowns about the cNGN that will need to be clarified by the consortium, such as the blockchain it will use and the planned apps and services for consumers.

If this is true then those publicly-quoted banks must have previously issued a forward-looking statement to investors through the Nigerian Stock Exchange. They did no such thing so this will contravene SEC rules.

Furthermore, I don't believe that CBN will allow banks operate a monetary system it will not be able to control and regulate.

This news ri bakan for now until CBN clarifies it.

What happened to eNaira after all the hype and billions wasted on implementation?
You guys are a bunch of clowns

Lolzzzz... We are a very unserious country. All we want to do is join the bandwagon and embarass ourselves at it. Naira as a stable coin is supposed to achieve what exactly?
i think you are wrong. To convert your usdt to naira, no more need for p2p with all the risk involved, just swap from usdt to cngn and your naira is on its way to your bank account. I think it's a great idea if implemented well

Good move if they can truly sustain it. It will make naira more accessible plus make conversion of Naira to USD and other foreign currencies easy.

**Damn can't wait to see what 2024 brings with regards to tech. From AI to EV, driverless cars, e-helicopter and now our cNGN.

The CBN should try and reduce the volume of naira in circulation. This will drive down the price of commodities and minimize inflation.

All these digital naira initiative can only work in advanced countries, not in Nigeria.
When emefiele tried it, didn't it cause more inflation. I think do away with oyinbo economics and think of ingenious solutions. We need to look within.

Let's see how it goes am a crypto enthusiast but I never for once check enaira because it's not built on blockchain, now another one coming that's blockchain oriented now I see why they lift ban on cryptocurrency.,.with this initiative I hope people will start to embrace naira.another thing that will strengthen naira is that if it can be possible we should start using Naira squarely if those in abroad wanna send money they should send naira not dollars afterall naira is our official currency not dollar

Because naira na 1200

They can't use parallel market rate meaning they will have to use official rate and we will set the effect it will create when it does happen

The Economics textbook you read has been thrown away. Please find and read modern ones. Already, the volume of liquid cash in circulation is not enough, hence you're using naira to buy naira (POS charges), dry ATM machine and rationed cash withdrawal over the counter.

If you can regulate it, it is no longer a fancy cryptocurrency. How would the promoters scam the public if their is government regulations?

You need to tell people that the value would increase so they buy it with the hope of selling it (like a pyramid scheme).
