Opinion: Why EFCC May Arrest Nigeria’s Richest Man, Aliko Dangote by ReligiousCritic: 10:41am On Jan 05
It seems Nigeria’s richest man, Aliko Dangote is about to get his name stained as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has decided to beam their light on Dangote group of companies.

Just yesterday, operatives of the commission besieged the Lagos headquarters of Dangote group in search of FOREX documents.

This sudden focus on Dangote is not unconnected to the relationship between former governor of the Central bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin
Emefiele and Aliko Dangote. The relationship between the duo helped Dangote in building his multi-billion naira refinery which is set to begin operation.

Dangote, when asked about how he got funds to build the phenomenal refinery, he spoke briefly about how the CBN loaned him money but said he was done paying what he borrowed.

However, inside sources at the CBN have revealed that the relationship between the duo didn’t start with the refinery funds but long ago. It was revealed that they have been engaging in shady deals that even affected the economy of the country.

It was also cited that Dangote has been engaging in foreign exchange fraud in the sense that he buys huge amount of dollars from Emefiele’s CBN at official rate and sells at the black market rate, which is always double of the amount he got it for. At the time, official rate was about N400 while black market rate was around N700-N800. If Dangote buys $1 Million at official rate with the help of Godwin Emefiele, he is sure to get double of it when he resells at black market rate hereby hurting the economy of Nigeria. From these unholy gains, He settles the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele as an appreciation.

If this is anything to go by, Aliko Dangote is about to face dark times in his career and it may involve getting arrested by the EFCC.

Is it only Dangote that is involved in such FX shady deals?
That is the business of the average aboki man
They are mentally lazy and depends on government for everything from payment of their school fees to getting a job
The search light of EFCC should go beyond Dangote
