The board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have been released on bail after appearing at the police headquarters in Abuja to face questions over forgery allegations.

The board, led by NFF president Alhaji Aminu Maigari, are being investigated by the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID).

The probe centres on documents the NFF used in court last year purportedly from Fifa, used to defend a case brought by the National Association of Nigerian Footballers (NANF).

The NANF's original case questioned the legality of the NFF elections held in August 2010.

In the latest development the NANF have now provided the police with documents signed by Fifa President, Sepp Blatter, which do not tally with the one used by the NFF in court last year.

Police will now consider the latest findings before deciding if there are grounds for trial.

A NFF board member insisted to BBC Sport that they have confirmation from Fifa that the letter in question is authentic.[quote][/quote]
