Knowing Your limits

Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

Proverbs 22:28

The word limits is different from limitations. When you have limits you have boundaries whereas limitations is more like something is missing to enable you do better.

As individuals we should all know our limits. We are not made to do everything. We are made to do a specific set of things. When we know our limits we would not invest our time in unproductive activities.

If supposing you drive a car and you see speed limits 200km. Can you drive beyond that ? No. Not because you don’t want to but as a safety precaution. In doing the work of God we too have limits. Even the great apostle Paul had limits. In his evangelical ministry he knew where to draw the line. Not everything is our responsibility we must know where to stop and say this is not for me.

In soul winning for the kingdom of God, we may be given a certain task or a certain region to evangelise. We must focus on it and not go beyond it and then create issues for ourselves.

Paul and his missionary companions were hindered by the Holy Spirit from preaching the Gospel in the Province of Asia, probably because it wasn’t part of their ministerial jurisdiction at the time. However, through the vision Paul had, it became obvious to them that the Holy Spirit was leading them to Macedonia. Know your limits therefore and let God guide you.
