With the way crime is going up in this country,we shouldn't pretend that there is no solution to it.

The only way that can help the police identify and tackle hit and run crimes, murder, and other crimes is the installation of CCTV cameras powered by AI software.CCTVs can help the police identify criminals and other evil men after a crime had been committed and also alert the police to respond immediately the security software alert them of a crime scene.

To Nigerian citizens, do you want every streets and roads in Nigeria to be under the watch of security CCTVs with powerful AI features?

Why not, at least with the knowledge of being watched, small small criminals will quit

Then we know we are dealing with hardened criminals

CCTV is unlikely to make a big difference.

1. Covering every square metre of this huge country with cctv is impracticable.

2. Most kidnapping take place in remote isolated places where cctv will most likely not reach.

That said, urban areas can certainly benefit from cctv presence. But I doubt if that will be very effective because we simply don't have the infrastructure in place to make cctv work 24/7.

It is one thing to install cctv., it another to make it work all the time.

This kind of comment is one of the reasons Nigeria will never develop, it can be installed in strategic places, that's how it is done in many Countries, in 20 Years time Nigeria will be one of most backward countries in Africa, very sad ..... Nigerians are the most backward and docile people on this earth but can be lousy for stupid things

You are wrong. It will make a huge difference. CCTV can make you piece together clues. Say the kidnappers kidnapped in the outskirts of Abuja with no CCTV, but suddenly, we found out that one of the kidnapper’s cell phone was active at a petrol station inside Abuja where there is CCTV, we can easily identify vehicles, run number plates, piece together the direction he exited, the time, etc. Also, most kidnappers and robberies are against wealthy people living in the cities.

We should not just build them in public places but should incentivise private citizens to install them in their shops, houses, churches, mosques, businesses. Your neighbour’s front camera might be the clue to if you ever get kidnapped.

Now, we realising why we need constant electricity in Nigeria. Lack of constant power is itself a security risk. These homes would need power to install them.

Overall, gov should install them, and gradually expand their usage.
