ODUNA Leverages Iturah™ Telemedicine For A Successful 2024 Medical Outreach by Jimsonjaat96(m): 6:34pm On Jan 19
In a groundbreaking collaboration, The Offa Descendants Union North America (ODUNA) joined forces with Toybeth Systems LLC, the developer of iturah EMR & Telemedicine system for their annual medical outreach held from Monday, January 15th, to Friday, January 19th, 2024.

The one-week health-oriented event featured a comprehensive array of healthcare services, with medical professionals from the United States and from esteemed institutions such as the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), General Hospital Offa, and Kwara State College of Health Technology (HealthTech), Offa.

Beneficiaries with medical needs received free diagnostics, treatments across various health domains, and screenings conducted by dedicated professionals. Notable services included the provision of free medication drugs, dental care, and general surgeries for conditions like hernia and cataract. Additionally, prescription glasses were distributed to individuals with impaired vision.

The event also showcased a modern way of doing medical outreach by using Iturah Telemedicine System, a revolutionary platform facilitating patient registrations, vitals checking, lab tests, and medical consultations with doctors onsite and virtually.

Abdulyekeen Rilwan, Coordinator of Country Business Development, disclosed that as of Thursday, January 18th, iturah has reported the successful registration of 4,220 patients, 31 doctors, 33 nurses, 7 lab scientists, and 7 Pharmacists, showcasing iturah's effectiveness and uniqueness in enhancing healthcare accessibility and efficiency.

The use of iturah telemedicine at the ODUNA Medical Mission marks a significant step towards advancing telemedicine solutions and improving healthcare outcomes for communities.

The President of ODUNA, Abdulmajeed Lawal, commended Iturah's positive impact on this year’s medical mission where ODUNA has introduced technology for the first time in a decade of conducting the outreach in Offa. Emphasizing the versatility and uniqueness of iturah, Mr. Abdulmajeed said: “I’m quite impressed because the App has an interface that is specifically built for outreach unlike the EHR software that we use in the western world or the United States that has its own complexities. This year, the App gives us the opportunity to know our statistics and helps us to know how we are doing at every close of the day and how to plan for the next day. The beauty of it is, from the registration point, the doctors, the consultants, specialists, and all providers are able to pull up patients’ information and follow-up from whatever point to point the patients have been to in the outreach flow.”

Mr. Abdulmajeed added: “We have to evolve from the old norm. The world is going AI and so writing everything on paper is not where we want to be in healthcare delivery. We need to level up with the world and bring our society and communities to that level as well.”

Various healthcare practitioners volunteering at the medical mission also provided accolades for iturah in its effectiveness and ease of use. Some nurses using an EMR application for the first time said they received training on the spot at the medical mission for 10 minutes and were able to complete a patient registration in less than 2 minutes.

Iturah telemedicine platform is developed by Toybeth Systems LLC under the leadership of a Nigerian-American technology entrepreneur, Elizabeth Oluwatoyin Olawoyin (Founder & CEO). The platform is packed with features and doubles as an EMR and a telemedicine system that can be used by individual doctors, hospitals, NGOs and other institutions in the fast delivery of healthcare services and analytics.
