Yes, it is true that Governor of Osun state, Ademola Adeleke, recently sacked three monarchs: the Aree of Iree, Oba Ademola Raphael; the Owa of Igbajo, Oba Gboyegba Famoodun; and the Akinrun of Ikirun, Oba Olalekan Akadiri.

This occurred on January 18, 2024, as part of the release of six white papers related to various committees investigating issues raised by the governor upon taking office in November 2022.
These white papers reviewed the processes that led to the selection of the three monarchs and found them to be flawed, prompting their removal.

Here are some additional details about the situation:

Reason for removal: The official reason for the sacking is that the selection processes for the three monarchs did not comply with legal requirements.
This claim has been disputed by supporters of the former governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, who appointed the monarchs shortly before leaving office.

Controversy: The decision to sack the monarchs has been met with mixed reactions.
Some support the governor's action, believing it is necessary to uphold the rule of law and ensure fair selection processes.
Others criticize the move, arguing that it is politically motivated and disrespectful to the traditional institutions of Osun state.

Next steps: The government has ordered a fresh selection process to fill the vacant stools. It is unclear how long this process will take or who will be eligible to participate.

If you would like to learn more about this situation, I would recommend checking out reliable news sources in Nigeria.
Some news outlets that have covered this story include Arise News, Punch Newspapers, and Sahara Reporters.

Cheers..

Since the other parties didn't pray to the judiciary on selecting process he should have allowed it to stay

Meddling in traditional institutions by government is repulsive.

If they are that useless, government should just cut them off the little subventions accrued to them and use such resources to develop other sectors.

They kee deceiving themselves that it is "Ifa that selects them" even when the whole world knows that the ones with the 'highest connections and resources" are always picked by "Ifa" cheesy angry. That aside, most of these traditional rulers are just a drain on our resources, each state should have just one traditional ruler while the remaining should join the civil service or go and learn work angry, you will be amazed when you know the percentage of the budget that service these people who end up marrying more wives and having more children shocked
