Loosing the Grip of Sin

Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.

Romans 6: 14

One obstacle to our walk with God is sin. Sin brings about separation from God. God is holy and therefore cannot operate in our lives effectively if we are subjected to our sinful nature.
Sin comes from our fleshy nature and our submission to the devil’s lies.

When you accepted Jesus into your life, you took a decision to forsake that fleshy nature. Satan is constantly trying to lure us back to our old nature of sin through one form of deception or another. We must try to resist any attempt by the enemy to lure us back to our fleshy desires.

With Jesus in our lives we no longer have to subject ourselves to the demands of our flesh but we are now subjected to the holy spirit who is at work in our lives. Sin can no longer be our master, because Christ defeated sin at Calvary and we who are surrendered to Christ live in the victory that Christ achieved over 2000 years ago.

Key Point: Our new nature in Christ enables us to live above the demands of our flesh and our sinful nature.

Prayer: Lord help me to live in the awareness that you have conquered the power of sin in my life.
