Enugu Community Boils As Herders Invade Agu-amede, Kill Two, Injure Others, Raze by Salewa97: 5:15pm On Jan 23 |
Yet again, Agu-Amede in the Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State has come under heavy attack as armed men said to be herdsmen have invaded Imamamaru village. The assailants killed two villagers and injured several others. The bandits also burnt about four houses, SaharaReporters learnt on Tuesday. SaharaReporters gathered that the incident occurred on Saturday, some days after a similar attack at Isiado village which left two people dead. SaharaReporters reported on Monday that bandits suspected to be Fulani herders launched an attack on a community in the area, killing one person. The recent attack in Isiado and Imamamaru villages has forced people to flee their homes. Aged women, pregnant and nursing mothers and children are being relocated to neighbouring communities and villages which are safer, a community source told SaharaReporters on Tuesday. A community leader, Ephraim Ogbu, who confirmed Saturday’s incident to SaharaReporters, decried the unprovoked attacks. "The second attack at Imamamaru Agu-Amede after killing those two people at Isiado Agu-Amede. Our people are currently living in danger," he said. "A young man who is currently lying in a hospital bed was inside his house at Imamamaru village when the invaders launched the attack. Immediately he ran out of his house, they grabbed him and macheted him. You can see what they did to him. We don't know whether he will survive it. How can someone stay in his house and a foreigner will attack him and want to still live in that community? "We learnt that the herders engaged soldiers deployed in Eha-Amufu when they were patrolling the community. So, the soldiers engaged and overpowered them. They retreated and when the soldiers left, they launched the attack on innocent residents." SaharaReporters reported on January 3, 2024 that gunmen suspected to be herders had launched an attack on Agu-Amede community in the Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu, killing two young men who were there for Christmas celebration. It reported that communities in Eha-Amufu town including Agu-Amede, Mgbuji, and Abor witnessed large-scale attacks in 2021 and 2022 by herders in collaboration with militias from Benue State. Efforts by SaharaReporters to get the reaction of the spokesperson for the state police command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, failed as he did not answer his calls or respond to a text message sent to him. Why are these herders so stubborn? Must they ply their trade at the expense of people's ancestral lands, properties and lives? I hope they are aware that they have an equal and brutal match in ESN? |

RIP. All the communities in Enugu and Ebonyi that have close boundary with Benue are prone to herdsmen attack. Something urgently needs to be done about it. 8 Likes 1 Share |

Crazy thing is Agu-Amede is more along the Benue border than Enugu and the people speak more Idoma, and then there are Igbo communities from Ebonyi that are in Benue, border demarcation really messed up this country. 1 Like |

longetivity: Check the OPs recent topics! You’re spot on! He looks for negative news on Ndigbo/south-east to create threads on, while looking for positive news on the Yoruba/south-west that leaves them smelling of roses and goodness! |

If you guys in Enugu cannot take care of this problem, pls bring in Awka boys or Omor boys from Anambra state. Those ones are worse than Fulani. Nimbo back then have to ask Awka boys for help and after the help, Nimbo became a no go area for ndi Fulani. Do the same and stop whining like women in labour. I hate nonsense |

Notice that the story said the soldiers retreated and the terrorists attacked. The soldiers are there to prevent the people from going on the offensive and giving them time retreat to Benue but the ESN will surely find them and when they do the story will be 'Biafra separatists attacks Nigeria Army' in the media 2 Likes |

PureFace1: Don't know about 'Yoruba masters', but if you can't see the campaign of calumny and hate the OP is enagaged in on this forum, then you're just as deceitful as he is! Isn't there enough insecurity in the south-west for the OP to occupy his time with? Or is the south-west a oasis of peace in a sandstorm of widespread insecurity in Nigeria? |

Imagine Peter Obi was the president bandits issue would have become a thing of the past. I remember few weeks to the last elections when the whole Nigeria thought the elections would be free and fair and that Peter Obi would win. Bandits started fleeing.all of us remember those weeks and there was no single killing,..infact Sahara reporters carried a news where bandits was sharing old naira notes and buying up CFAs enroute to leaving Nigeria because they said Peter Obi is a devil ( very false) around February, then Mahmoud falsely declared tinubu and bandits rejoiced because they saw tinubu as business as usual. They killed about 50 in benue in March a week after elections results and have continued the killings even killing almost 500 people in plateau on Christmas Day unchallenged because they don’t have any regards for tinubu 1 Like |
