This is not meant to slag off this eminent website or posters in the politics section. I will dive straight into business: The politics section of this forum is a joke, disconnected from reality, full of aggression yet no tangible action, activity but no motion, has virtually ZERO contribution to the national conversation and may seem more like a banter over a bottle of beer at the end of the day! ΣW (Work Done) = 0! Maybe no, ΣW = -Q (Q is an infinite number)

By empiric deduction, this website is frequented by mostly younger people. Particularly in the politic section, there is a strong suggestion of age variation from early twenties to maybe mid thirties or thereabout - perhaps about 40. I can understand why a lot of people in Nigeria do not have regular access to the internet but my focus here is the usefulness of all the arguments and counter-arguments to shaping the political conversation on-the-ground in Nigeria. All the e-wars on political differences, tribe, view-points only exist in cyberspace (apologies to CyberG grin grin).

Why would any on-the-ground Nigerian concede to your theoretical postulations to Nigerians who mostly live away from the realities of Nigeria? Before I complete this post, billions of Naira would have been stolen and a top level CIA phone call (according to "competent" sources grin) to the puppet government in Nigeria would have been completed. No disrespect to anyone based on their age, but last time parts of Nigeria were led by some thirty something year olds, we all saw what happened and where it has landed the country now. Well, in this age where most young people are spending more time on their IPhones, BB, Xbox, PS3, Internet, porn-sites, lots of sxex grin grin rather than the rigorous application of one's self to knowledge and maturity, who will give any to the e-gladiators a chance to set ablaze whatever remains of the sorry state Nigeria is right now?

So, in conclusion: the politics section is a cocoon of abstract thoughts and e-fantasy that has no bearing with the political realities and direction of Nigeria. Forget moronic FB posting by the non-existing "government leader". Yes, we can have a banter on any topic but the membership of this entire website is less than 1% of the population of Nigeria (assuming 170 M) and the political e-gladiators are even far, far less yet they think their opinions is LAW and everyone must follow them? This is not even considering that a larger percentage and regular posters are far removed from the realities experienced by the people on the ground! The ones on the ground still get along and I have recently been talking to my friends dispersed across Nigeria and they are horrified at how you e-gladiators are portraying everyone online. Has any of you e-gladiators living in your cozy homes in US, Canada, UK, Asia, Australia, etc experienced this today:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bnbt0kbHiz0&feature=player_embedded#!? (A long series!). NO, yet YOU would e-FORCE your e-opinion on everyone who disagrees? Well, so with these few words, I hope the shameful and disgraceful fights on NL when someone disagrees with you or you don't like his post, or you remember your tribe, and if you heard stories a long time ago (before you were born), or someone from your place stole all the state's financial allocation, or Goodluck loses his bearings again, Patience gbagauns an umpteenth time, someone doesn't want to give you their land, someone claims a different lineage; please give your opinion and move on!

Make una no vex for LONG post! grin grin

Can you please summarize your dissertation into one simple sentence that an area-boy reader like me can follow ?
Re: Nairaland Politics Is A Joke - Here Is Why. . . by CyberG: 6:59am On Nov 07, 2011
Jakumo: I will actually try to summarize in a sentence! grin grin

NL Politics is banter that reflects little or nothing on Naija's political realities and while everyone can have an opinion, e-wars forcing others to agree with a point of view are useless!

CyberG:

ΣW (Work Done) = 0! Maybe no, ΣW = -Q (Q is an infinite number)

This made me laugh, for some reason grin

You are a nerd, like me grin

^^ Thank you guys!  grin grin

@Paniki, thanks for the challenge but the "mathematical" solution space does not exist even in the ultra-complex domain! grin grin The other empirical solution is what I suggested in my post.

Ekt_bear: Thumbs up! smiley

CyberG you may be right that political and governmental policy decisions are not as a rule directly affected by opinions expressed on internet discussion forums, BUT such websites as this one do present a worldwide reading audience with HONEST, anonymously expressed opinions of Nigerians living both at home and in the diaspora, as well as input from various other nationals who conduct business in Nigeria.   It is thus possible to feel the political pulse of Nigeria from the comfort of ones armchair in Outer Mongolia or beyond, thanks the Internet.

Sifting through the sheer volume of tribalist ranting and racist invective that sometimes passes for political discourse in this and other political discussion forums, the notion is inescapable that today Nigeria comprises at least two future independent nations, riven more by inter-denominational religious loathing than by the once traditional ethnic or tribal blood-feuds.  All told, internet political forums like Nairaland can only grow in relevance and political influence, as cell-phone video-streamed images from the street protests of Syria illustrate nightly on global TV news, and the internet.

Long live Nairaland, and may its creator, The Always Mighty, Ever Popular, Area Fada At Large, Oga Seun of the Fabled Osewa Clan,  continue to prosper and wax ever stronger.

In a similar vein, Oga Seun please don't forget my small businessman's loan request already filed with your office, for your approval.
