Both teams played a 4-3-3 formation with almost exactly same lineup of players. The first half had Angola attack on the 4th minute into the game but Nigerian Goalie Stanley Nwabali came to the rescue. Both teams played well with a great team work and tactical ability. However, at the 41st minute, the deadlock was broken by Nigerian talisman Ademola Lookman who netted in with his left foot a cross from Moses Simon. Nigeria had 4 shots on target with more possession while Angola had 3 shots on target.

The second half started with a fast attack from Nigeria with Alex Iwobi striking with his left foot but the shot got deflected by an Angolan defender.
