FG bans alcoholic drinks in sachets, others

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in Nigeria has announced the enforcement of a ban on the importation, manufacture, distribution, sale, and use of alcoholic beverages in sachets, PET, and glass bottles of 200ml and below. The ban, which came into effect on January 31, 2024, aims to curb the negative effects of alcohol consumption, particularly among vulnerable groups such as underage individuals and commercial drivers.

Why ban it? Are those taking it babies that they don't know alcohol is not good for their bodies
? Leave them let them continue to destroy their organs. If they choose not to have sense so be it.

Who will enforce it?

The ogogoro drinking policemen? I expect them to seize the ogogoro and take it to their barracks to 'throw-away'.

Why not just tax it heavily to make idleness beneficial to the system?

Don't you know that many are mad but few are roaming the streets. Some will wake up as early as 5 am to drink all these alcoholic drinks. They have crossed the Rubicon, no going back. They say smokers are liable to die young , these people continue taking cigarettes. It's in their blood!
