Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has called for patience over the ongoing economic hardships being experienced in the country.

The governor said this during a briefing in Ilorin with different segments of the state on efforts of the government to ease things for the people.

The sessions, which lasted for hours, involved labour union leaders from the transport, artisans, market unions and students drawn from various backgrounds in the state.

In a statement signed by Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, AbdulRazaq said that different federal government committees are working round the clock to plug the spiraling fall in the value of the naira and its impacts on consumer goods.

According to him, “We (governors) held a meeting on Tuesday afternoon which I joined through zoom, and it is a continuation of previous meetings. The government is launching programmes to checkmate the rising food prices.

“Our major problem is foreign exchange. We are getting US dollars from sales of crude oil, whereas we have low sales at the moment. We used to experience pipeline vandalism.

But since the assumption of Tinubu’s government, production of oil has increased. Not only that, the government realised recently that the crude oil we are, and will be getting in the next six months or so had been sold in advance. So, they don’t get value for whatever they are selling now. But gradually, things will change and we need your support to understand us,” he added.

AbdulRazaq said the government is immediately working to force down the cost of key staple foods by releasing grains from the strategic reserve and distributing the same to the people at intervals.

The devaluation of the naira, the Governor noted “meant that merchants from neighbouring countries are mopping up grains from Nigeria.

“This is because it is far cheaper to buy from the country and then resell at higher prices in their own countries, especially in the West African sub-region”.

Acknowledging the spike in inflation, he urged the people to be patient adding that the government’s investments in gas-powered vehicles will manifest after their distribution in the coming months.

For those of you that don't understand English, the man said they have sold your crude oil in advance and pocketed the money, and aso you people should exercise patience and remain hungry for the next six months, or six years cheesy

My advice to you my brothers from Kwara is to buy a small bowl, relocate to your street junction and start begging, as the state governor is passing with other politicians, they will be dropping change money for you to chop.

How are those foreigners able to come into Nigeria, buy grains and take back to their country? Answer: porous borders.
Yet customs declare trillions yearly and we clap for them.
I remember one of the reasons given for subsidy removal is smuggling cheap fuel across the border to sell in other countries.
Maybe FG should kuku raise the price of gains further to discourage the smuggling as they did for fuel.
Mad people everywhere

Let Nigerians source for food produce from neighbouring countries and increase its supply into Nigeria.

All of us are enjoying ECOWAS free import duties.

Where are those quack accountants that said borrowing is normal ,they even went ahead to compare Nigeria with other developed nations that borrow.
You have oil but because you borrow too much to fund corruption and embezzlement the oil looks useless today as it is used to pay for the recklessness of yesterday . Continue borrowing

Buhari is so terrible, that under his nose, Nigeria resources was so milked out and govt purse was just not emptied, but the resources of several years ahead had also been squandered and sold by just a very few individuals.

A CBN governor having 3 banks within just few years of his reign as governor. . only God know much NNPCL MD and several key players in CBN, Finance Ministry and other key portfolios have carted away.

Such a disaster to the nation. We have seen where tribe and religion has pushed us into now as a nation.

Tinubu and Buhari are old men and needed to rest, and be treated, yet people kept pushing them to carry the widest capacity of the country.

Well, we are in this together now.

The blame game still continues. If that is the case they should step down and let capable hands handle the affairs of the country, because as it stands Tilumbu has nothing to offer.

So you also remembered they told us that our debt to GDP ratio is the lowest in the world bla bla bla.
When we complain that we have no means of paying back those wasteful foreign loans, then
they will start quoting how America is owing.
They forgot that America is a highly productive country and majority of its debt are internal.
Even at that there are many anti-deficit political groups in the same America.

Originalsly how insincere can your leaders be, lying and trying to play games with Nigerians over and over?

This was my comment months ago stating that a lot of crude had been sold in advance, something that was common knowledge, but here are your leaders claiming they only realized recently

socialmediaman:

Let's test this projection:

1. Price of oil will stay up because of the conflicts in the middle east and eastern europe, which should be an advantage to Nigeria. The problem, however, is that Nigeria has swapped a lot of crude oil for advance payment, so this may not really make much impact

APC the most useless party in the entire human history. Were the thieving governors not in the know when Buhari, the Clueless, collected money in advance for oil not produced yet? They all alluded to it and shared the money among themselves.

They tell people to be patient until when..?

Can someone ask them what was done with the money collected in advance. No accountability but their useless supporters will be here defending their own destruction.

The bizarre thing is when this acclaimed contract of payment upfront expires, they will renew another one. Worst thing is that after the agreed barrels have been payed, these unfortunate APC people can even go on to say Nigeria didn't meet the required barrels of oil in the agreed time and will need to export crude oil for free for the next 5 years. We know what will happen next.

The fire of destruction of the Lord will locate and consume every evil one and supporters of evil people that makes life difficult for innocent Nigerians.

Let everyone say Amen.

Dangote is the leader of false hope deposit all the government support he has.

If they gave other private businesses half the support dangote gets, we would be Singapore by now.

Naira is failing against the dollar because our boy Buhari borrow billions of dollars that has since been moved to Europe and the Middle East. We are paying for Buhari's loot via inflation.
