What was the point removing fuel subsidies and realign the Naira if all the gains made would be use to pay higher wages to workers.

People are claiming as much as 200,000 as minimum wage. So what was the point then?🤔

Removal of the fuel subsidy means more money will be accrued to the federal government because the funds being paid to the oil importers (called subsidy) has stopped.

The money being saved from the subsidy stoppage therefore flowed to the state governments on the name of federal allowances (FAAC).

Our state governors are in money now, but won’t talk to avoid being questioned about the hefty money in their treasuries. That’s wickedness on the path of the governors not justify the hefty sum available to them.

With or without subsidy, is #200,000 minimum wage too much to be paid to Nigerian workers considering the wealth of the country and the humongous amount NASS members take home in the same country ?

Is taking undeserved money from a very few phoney oil importers and transferring same to the larger suffering masses not better ? More so when those being paid the subsidy do not deserve it ?
Think about it.

Wage review is a statuary responsibility of government and is done every 5 years to mitigate the vagaries of inflation.

The removal of fuel subsidy has nothing to do with minimum wage award as it would have happened with or without it.

I have said it before, because fuel subsidy was removed without adequate back up plan, Fuel subsidy money will be used to pay

1-Salary increments

2-Food Subsidy

We need to generate more revenue in dollars to get us moving forward as a country.

Paying large numbers of employees higher salary is better than enriching a few corrupt cabals and government officials in the name of fuel subsidy payment.

I disagreed with your point of view, as higher wages will bring about inflation. The government should try as much as possible not to bend to the demand of the labour as increasing the wages will bring about rise in cost of pms as the government will need to free funds from the current subsidy being paid currently on pms and this will lead to further hardship. The government should for now proscribe the labour union until permanent solution is found to the current economic crises

Stop misinforming people. State budget and monthly allocations are not secret.

The state governors are not in money, they are in devalued money.
Majority of the increased allocation is from Naira printing and inflation.

By your logic, Tinubu must also be in huge money compared to the governors,
so why is he still borrowing and struggling to manage the economy?

The "gains" from subsidy removal is misleading.
This gain is actually from printing Naira and inflation.

So, the government will merely pay its workers with a 100% devalued currency.

What’s the value of the money saved from subsidy removal?

100,000 Naira February last year isn’t of same value of 100,000 Naira February this year. It’s not about how much the money is, it’s about what value it holds.

The money goes to the masses, and not the few elites that make up the Oil Cabal led by Femi Otedola who have been looting our treasury with inflated subsidy
