You can only give what you have. Unfortunately, aside medicine and law, most university lecturers does not have workplace/ industry experience. They only pass on what the were thought hook, line and sinker.

The sure bet to having a more productive university is to structure the recruitment process to allow for the employment of experienced and seasoned retired professionals. Most organisations peg 60 yrs as the retirement age. Imagine have these seasoned professionals from engineering, Oil and gas, business management teaching and passing their industry experience and trainings to the young undergraduate.

Whenever I read something like this I feel sad for the state of the nation.
You think Nigerian lectures can't complete with their peers in developed world? I have a news for you. Nigerians with Nigerians certificates work at Preston, MIT, Oxford ... Just because your government is useless that doesn't make them useless. They work above their means and you don't have any right to criticize them.
Most universities in Nigeria don't even have stable electricity. Yet you can criticize them.
Stay in your cave and keep quiet.

I wish they can do, but they don’t about that. They care only about fast sessions, planning for exams without cover the course outlines or thorough learning

Where will the solution providers work to provide solution when all the critical and juicy positions are occupied either by your family members, side chicks or people purely based on connections and not merit. Nigeria is overflowing with solution providers that are buried by our corrupt symtem.

Hehe lead the way nah

Thats the problem with our so called profs and so called educated illiterates. They will give a recommendation that is ideal yet impractical in our Nigeria of today. We will bring the solution of UK that is a working society to apply in Nigeria without even modifying it to address our peculiarities. Its like they just advice to show that they went to school in the UK and not to provide the solutions that can work for us!
Re: Oyebanji Tasks Universities On Producing Solution Providers by omoredia: 2:25pm On Feb 11
A society that takes education as a 'class thing' is not a society driven by practical knowledge!

Every field have career and non-career work. The young graduates that intend to become lecturers will fall under the category of career lecturers while those with industry experience will fall under the non-career lecturers. I hope this addressed your concern?
