I usually waybill items accross cities but in recent times i noticed drivers dont make any effort to contact the receiver but simply hand the package to a collaborator who always come off as storekeeper or park security - who will try to extort you.

Could you share your experience and their mode of action in your area?

For me, Ifeanyi Okafor - a driver for Peace Mass Transit 2138 brazenly collected double payment on a waybill sent from Abakiliki to Aba a few days ago.

He was paid 3k which he charged when he collected it. But when he arrived he quietly handed over the items to a so-called store keeper who insisted he will be paid 1k before releasing the goods. As if that was not enough he said asked for another payment saying the driver was not paid and so asked him to collect the 3k.

Every effort to get ifeanyi driver to pick his call and confirm things was in vain. finally the 2nd payment was made.

But where the story gets interesting is that when we tried reporting the fraud to the management of Peace mass Transit in Aba, the supervisor abi manager there simply said 'the company has nothing to do with it....that we should continue calling the driver till he picks up'

Its bad that a company will watch as its employees fleece unsuspecting citizens and the look away because its 'illegal waybill' as they call it.

I swear, that collection of waybill has become a lucrative business at the expense of customers.

Once the drivers arrive....even if its envelope, you must pay additional money and they say its for securing the item....how?

Had a similar experience with a driver two weeks ago, not PMT though the driver deliberately avoided the receiver's call and in the end we were made to part with another money before they could release the load to the receiver.

Next time, pay the driver using bank transfer and screenshot the receipt to avoid one leg of this problem.

As for the store keeper leg, I usually just overlook their part since it's minute.

Why dnt you do the main thing by going to the PMT directly logistics rather than drivers.

Isn't it in the east i heard they can force /trick you to enter a bus and beat you if you want to change bus?

The red flag should have been his hiding his face from the camera

You did illegal transaction and still got the nerves to report to pmt management?

You should be arrested in a saner clime!

Pmt has a logistics department. Anything aside that is at your risk

The Supervisor is right. You took a risk by handing over a package to their employee when you could have used a more expensive but reliable option, Peace Mass Logistics.

By the way, avoid "storage fees" by using transport companies that register your package with a waybill receipt of payment. If you hand over to a driver, chances are that he will drop it off with a store officer who will request for a fee at the point of pickup.

If you want to avoid such issues, try registering your waybill. They can't demand for extra charge no matter how long it takes you to come pick your good
