State police, also known as provincial police in some countries, are a type of sub-national territorial police force. This means they operate within a specific state or province within a larger federal nation. Here's a breakdown of their key characteristics:

Jurisdiction:

State police enforce state laws and regulations, unlike local police forces who focus on city or county ordinances.
Their patrol areas cover rural areas, highways, and smaller towns where local police forces might not be present.
They sometimes assist local law enforcement when needed, especially in major incidents.
Responsibilities:

Traffic enforcement: They patrol highways and enforce traffic laws to ensure safety and prevent accidents.
Criminal investigations: They investigate crimes that occur within their jurisdiction, from minor offenses to major felonies.
Emergency response: They respond to emergency calls, including accidents, domestic disturbances, and other situations requiring law enforcement intervention.
Search and rescue: Some state police forces have specialized units trained in search and rescue operations.
Organization:

They are typically organized and funded by the state government, with their own leadership structure, training programs, and equipment.
Their uniforms and vehicles often differentiate them from local police forces, although there can be some similarities.
Examples:

In the United States, each state has its own state police force, such as the California Highway Patrol or the Texas Rangers.
In Canada, each province has its own provincial police force, such as the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

Can’t we just post the present policemen to their state of origin including commissioners of police and AIGs while still maintaining their command structure.

The mobile police will be reclassified as federal police in charge of the FCT and and any other state that has a shortage of personnel till they are able to stand on their feet.

Isn’t this the same as state police but with a federal command structure?
