Updates on the Al-Aqsa Flood operation presented in this episode of Samri Channel.
Israeli War Council Minister Benny Gantz said that even in the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, the war could continue in Gaza, threatening to expand the fighting to Rafah unless they return the prisoners. Benny Gantz explained, saying: “There will not be a ceasefire, even for one day, until the return of our ‘abductees’... In any case, the fighting will continue until our goals are achieved.” Gantz added: “And even in the next month of Ramadan, the fire can continue... Either "Our kidnappers return or we expand the fighting to Rafah."

Meanwhile, Israeli army intelligence confirmed yesterday, Thursday, that even if Hamas is defeated as a regime, it will remain as a “guerrilla war” organization, and eliminating it is an unrealistic goal. Israeli Channel 12 reported that the head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Yahya Sinwar, is insisting on his demands during the Cairo negotiations, and that there are no indications of reaching a compromise.

On the other hand, US President Joe Biden confirmed that he held extensive talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in recent days, during which he urged a temporary ceasefire. Biden told reporters that he made it clear that there must be a temporary ceasefire to get the hostages out. He added: "Talks on a temporary ceasefire and the release of detainees are continuing, and I still hope for their success." When asked about the possible Israeli military operation in Rafah, the US President stated: “I hope in the meantime that the Israelis will not carry out a major ground operation.”

Finally, the Wall Street Journal, citing current and former US officials, reported that the administration of US President Joe Biden is preparing to send bombs and other weapons to Israel that will strengthen its military arsenal, even though the United States is seeking to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The newspaper said that the proposed weapons shipment includes MK-82 bombs, KMU-572 joint direct attack munitions that add precise guidance to bombs, and FMU-139 bomb fuses, adding that the value of the shipment is estimated at “tens of millions of dollars.” “. The report, citing a US official, indicated that the US administration is still studying the proposed shipment, and the official said that the details of the proposal may change before the administration informs congressional leaders who must approve the shipment.

The US Departments of Defense and State, the Israeli Ministry of Defense and the Israeli Army did not respond to requests from Reuters for comment on the report. Since December 2023, the Biden administration has twice avoided congressional review of arms sales to Israel. The administration has faced criticism for continuing to supply weapons to Israel, with mounting accusations that American-made weapons were used in strikes that killed or injured civilians. The war began in the Gaza Strip, which is controlled by the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), following the movement’s October 7 attack on Israel, which killed 1,200 people, most of them civilians, and took 253 hostage, according to Israeli statistics.
