Youths in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, on Monday, hit the street to protest the skyrocketing price of food and the state of the economy.

The PUNCH observed that protesters gathered around the Mokola area in the state wielding placards with various inscriptions such as ‘End food hike and inflation,’ ‘The poor are starving,’ and ‘Tinubu, don’t forget your promises,’ among others.

They were also chanting songs to show their grievances.

Armed policemen were seen at the protest scene.

Speaking during the protest, a man who craved anonymity said, “The problem affects everyone. Every Nigerian should stand for their right and must collectively fight this high cost of living. We cannot afford three square meals.

“Sections 39 and 40 of the country’s constitution empower every Nigerian to organise peaceful assembly and to speak about the economic hardship. This protest is a continuous action, so expect protest from any angle. It is not about me alone but about Nigerians.

“We must collectively fight for this and make sure that things are brought back to normalcy,” he added.

Another protester who identified herself as Barakat stressed that the hunger in the land is becoming unbearable, adding, “Everything is going out of hand. We can even complete two square meals. We voted Tinubu so that he can make corrections to Buhari’s wrong but the problem has gone out of hand now.”

The PUNCH reports that youths and women took to the streets in Niger State in protest of what they called the biting hardship and the rising cost of living in the country.

The protest started when a group of women blocked the Minna-Bida Road at the popular Kpakungu Roundabout to lament what they termed the sufferings under the Bola Tinubu government.

They were later joined by men and youths who barricaded the road and halted vehicular traffic.

The economic situation in the country had become unbearable following the removal of the fuel subsidy by President Tinubu on May 29, 2023.

Are they tired of teaching Mr. Obi and the igbos lesson.

Forget it, even if you're a messiah, if Igbos and the south southerners do not support you, you're bound to failed woefully in all ramifications. As you are contesting for presidency, just pray that these two regions support your candidacy, but if they frown upon it and maybe by mistake you won, no matter how hard you tried your best, you'll ended being the most clownish nonentity ever.

Buhari was the first, Tinubu followed, still counting.

As much I know that Oyo did not exhibit the type of Igbophobia seen in Lagos.
Let this who voted for Emilokan protest.

Let the SE, SS & those from SW that did not vote for Emilokan watch them from the sides.

Agberos, Thugs & Emilokans cant eat & expect the rest of us to pay.

Lol calm down on the delusion.

As terrible as Abacha government was, things were cheaper during his time compared to Obasanjo's time. That was when Eedris sang "Nigeria jajajaga"....

Still, Obasanjo's tenure was better than Jonathan's, Jonathan's time was better than Buhari....

The person coming after Tinubu will still be worse than him even if na your Peter Obi

Any government that cannot protect the lives and livelihood of its citizens is as useless as uselessness. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy.
Tinubu, a bad man with good intentions.
Re: Oyo Youths Protest High Cost Of Living by epainos: 6:11am On Feb 20
Lol

Instead of protesting, go learn gardening and start. This hardship won't stop soon. Argentina is still facing it too and it's getting harder for them. A crisis like this is a cancer. The antidote is painful. The best way is to prevent it, and since we are careless and we support thieves who stole our money when elected because they are from our towns, we will face the consequences.

Buy a piece of land in outskirts, fence it, install a borehole, and start cultivating perennials. You can produce grass-fed meat, eggs and milk also.

Good luck!

Everything doesn't revolve around you still pain about Election lost, the economy failure if Nigeria don't diversify from crude oil predicted since the time of GEJ is finally here even if your Peter Obi was the one there he would be forced to face the same issues and implement the same policies.

And they say they have foresight, when u and others hav limited the potential of a diverse nation since 1960.
Igbos tink they are smart pple, shows their selfishness. Or you people dont have masses?, are your governors even anything to write home about?.
Keep on deceiving your selves.
Smart people in a nation entrenched in decades of self inflicted damage.
If u truly were smart, your region would be the most developed but it isnt!.
Quote me and argue wit ur ancestors.
Irrelevance everywhere! Yuck.
